November 2024 Subscription Box

We send out two subscripton boxes per year to our loyal subscribers, full of beautiful, useful, Canadian made items for you and your home. There is a lot of thought that goes into these special boxes. It always feels like i'm putting together gifts for my mom or sister or closest girl friends. I always want things to be useful and seamlessly enter your space or routine with ease.

This season is no different with some seasonal additions to spice up this box - making it the perfect box to receive and or re-gift bits and pieces of to your loved ones over the holidays. I usually include a printout with a very short description of each item, but it never does the item, or the thought behind the choice justice, so this season i'm starting a blog post to share all the details of what's inside for both subscribers and non-subscribers to have a read through.

This box features not one but two delicious, local, and female led brands to snack on. Jade from Mother Butter is a wonderful feminist baker who puts all her energy into baking up these scrumptious shortbread cookies at this time of year out of her Creemore kitchen! We have been neighbours at artisan markets, and Jade even bakes her delicious creations wearing one of our linen aprons sometimes! We've chosen the classic shortbread this season, but she carry's a wide variety of flavours to choose from too. Check her out on instagram at @motherrbutter to see what shes up to this season.

Our second treat is made by the one and only Karalee of Rochelle Confections. She creates her masterpieces in her Toronto based studio in Leaside. We've chosen a classic "Holiday Joy" bar and hope you thoroughly enjoy the festive flavours of 70% dark chocolate studded with 34% peppermint, white chocolate chunks, and garnished with a candy cane crunch! Yum. Check out all of Karalee's creations on her Instagram at @larochelleconfections or her site larochelleconfections.square.site

I always want to include something made by me personally and this season I decided I wanted to try a new medium. I turned to my friend and fellow artisan Martha of Martha Monica Ceramics. I knew she would not only lend me her beautiful Kimberly based studio to create these in, but would provide me with guidance and friendship as I worked away creating these one-of-a-kind ceramic mitten ornaments. I was going for a classic yet scandinavian feel which I hope we made true with both the shape and colours. Hand painted by me, stamped with our little branded stamp, and voila, a new-to-me venture that was soul filling, challenging and oh-so enjoyable to create. I hope they hang on your tree's or the trees of your loved ones for many years to come. Thank you Martha for guiding me, helping me smooth out these edges, and watching over them they dried and were fired in your beautiful studio. And while I was at it I made some of my trusty "mini" baskets too, becasue I just find this such a great catch all for keys and or things around the house! They make a great hostess gift too!

Next up is this beautiful pot holder by Danielle at River House Market. Once again, I met Danielle at some local artisan markets and we always gravitated towards each others wares. It's been a goal to somehow work together for the past few years and i'm happy we have finally collaborated on this beautiful piece. I love that Danielle focuses on using ends of bolts of fabric, helping to limit fabric waste from landfills. We designed this piece with a sturdy neutral fabric that will wear well, and Danielle has lined these with wool, helping to keep your hands cool and your pots warm. She also makes all of her pieces with her mom - how wonderful! Find Danielle at @theriverhousemarket on IG.

I love to include something for you to use that isn't for your home, or to eat and these eucalyptus steamers by Taygen are the perfect addition to your showers. We have been using these for a few years now, and love the spa-like quality they bring to an every day experience. Simply place one of these steamers at the base of your shower just outside of where your water hits the floor of your shower. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the relaxing scent that comes from these, and depending on how you shower these can last you a few days each. I love having them on hand when you feel like you need a little pick-me-up. Check out all of Taygen's goods at @mudandotis or mudandotis.com.

Lastly are a few special seasonal pieces from one of my favourite brands Ten & Co. Christen the owner, has been an inspirational entrepreneur to me for the entirety of my business. I was sad to see her closing up her shop, but can't wait to see what she does next! I know it will be equally as inspiring. I love her spounge clothes, and actually don't know what I would use in their place. Aside from being beautiful, they are fully compostable which is an added bonus! This pin striped gift bag is a great thing to have on hand this season if you're visiting family and friends, "wrap" up their gift in this instead! Again limiting waste, while still looking great! I can also picture a bottle of wine or olive oil in these bags, a fresh loaf of sourdough to deliver, and or any of the above that you may be gifting to someone else.

Our goal is to always connect you with other female lead Canadian brands, while paying particular attention to quality, and of course keeping everything inline with our brand Woven Handmade. I hope everyone enjoys this season's subscription box, and connects with some of these wonderful women's brands over the holidays and beyond.

Have a safe, healthy and wonderful time enjoying the season with loved ones.

Amy
