At Woven Handmade, our passion for beautifully crafted handmade pieces stems from a lifelong love for crafting. From a young age, founder Amy Billinghurst has been immersed in the world of creativity, honing her skills and nurturing her artistic spirit.

I'm Amy, the founder and maker of
Woven Handmade
I feel my best when I'm creating with my hands.
From a young age I started taking art classes in Muskoka where I grew up. We worked with all sorts of mediums and I loved them all. I can remember learning how to knit from my friends grandma at their summer cottage when I was little, and always enjoyed passing the time while using my hands. My mom taught me how to sew when I was young as well from her skills acquired in her home ec class. She sewed most of my Halloween costumes growing up, and I loved watching these creations come to life from a simple bolt of fabric.

My parents would frame paintings, and drawings and even sculptural pieces I created over the years to display in their home, which was full of beautiful antique heirlooms, and carefully curated accessories.

We gathered at a beautifully set table most evenings for dinner, and our meals were always full of delicious healthy food, special seasonal napkins set out, and serving platters passed down from my grandparents. Sometimes we would use "Nana's fancy china or silverware".

Woven Handmade is an extension of my life at home, enjoying little moments with people I love. Our Canadian-handmade items are a reflection of how home feels to me. Layered with lovingly made objects, beautiful surroundings, and most importantly family and friends.
